This album came from improvised jams from the summer of 2012 and the winder of 2012-2013. It marks the first Emperors of Gnouv album recorded with our expanded home studio, rather than the single mic Zoom H4N recordings of the previous two albums. Oh Baby New Year is the result of hours of improvised material, our growing knowledge of recording/post production, and most importantly, awesome times shared with awesome people. This album is the funky, freaky, sometimes dream-like result of the past two months of instrumental jamming and recording. All the musicians in The Quantum Round are improvisers, which means that even the ideas we compose prior to playing will be played differently every time. The music is a combination of our familiarity improvising with each other, exploration, experimentation, and uncertainty.
